In the biblical context and the spiritual word debauchery sounds pretty serious, however, in other situations it often has a funny connotation, like when a group of friends goes out for 'night of debauchery'. Debauchery is somehow shimmering with different meanings, but nevertheless is usually recognized as something bad, it spreads after abstinence, taking its subsequent areas like a virus that attacks a healthy body. It's more frivolous and diverse than abstinence, which is associated with biblical purity, modesty and impeccability, and treated as a virtue and a direction that should be taken in life (especially in environments associated with strong religiosity, where restraint in virtually every issue is worthy admiration). On the other hand, abstinence is something that limits freedom, 'protects' from growth or development, is a forced limitation from indulging in activities, which are widely seen as giving pleasure. Debauchery is the use of sensual pleasures (in opposition to the felt more spiritually abstinence) and is associated with abundance. Debauchery has its source in the rejection of abstinence (partial or total), comes out of it, intertwines.
